J. Michael Howard - A Celebration of Life

J. Michael Howard
June 1955 - January 2012

J. Michael Howard, the multi-talented artist whose works supported the cultural enlightenment of the African diaspora died two weeks ago in Kennesaw, GA.  Even though Michael was a pure artist at heart – he found time to teach both traditional and computer art to children and seniors at facilities throughout metro Atlanta.  His work as a computer programmer and web designer was a catalyst for his ability to teach the skills he had mastered to others.  Michael so eloquently stated, "I believe strongly in working with the community based institution whose mission is to promote music, visual art or youth development through education, community involvement or publications."

Music has always had intrinsic influence on his artistic creations, and it was a dominant theme in his many works of art.  Worldwide corporate institutions, private collectors, and those who enjoy fine art covet Michael’s paintings, pastels and drawings.  Reservation of his glorious artwork is on permanent installation in the Comer Museum, in the Smithsonian Institute Traveling Exhibition for the book “Seeing Jazz: Artists and Writers on Jazz”.  In the commercial realm, Michael's art is on the covers of an array of music CDs, books and magazines.  Michael personally exhibited his artwork on a national scale for many years, traveling throughout major cities in the United States; presently, his website displays his magnificent artwork within the international arena.

Michael leaves behind a legacy of beautiful art, renowned for its uniqueness and thought-provoking qualities inspiring true essence of life.  His enlightenment towards his craft, community-at-large, and those his spirit touched in this world will forever leave an image of prominence and divine nobility.
